The trick to finding your drivers for your computer.
Have you ever found it hard to find the right pages on the web to get drivers for the computer you are working on?
At some point, we all have to go through this when we are working on our computer systems. Sometimes even the best of us have some problems in finding just what we need online.
This article is mainly for those of us, who aren't so technically inclined, as to help them in accomplishing what they want to do.Lets say at some point, you have an older system and you want to upgrade to the newest Operating System, lets say, Windows 7, you go to the Microsoft site and download the Windows 7 Upgrade tool to see if you can run it on your system,
Now even though your computer is an older system, you find that it can run the new Windows 7 operating system, Now you are thinking. Great now lets get it and install it. So you go out and buy the new Windows 7 operating system, and install it, only to find that your computers drivers for its motherboard won't work on it, for example, even though the Windows 7 Upgrade tool said everything would work.
Now what do you do? You go online to hunt for drivers for your computer. You enter your search paramaters to find what you need only to find that some of the companies out there are either sneaky or tricky with the search engines you use and advertise they have the drivers for your computer, Only to find that they want you to get their program to find the drivers you need, Great! You download that program and use it, and it says you need these drivers. Great! Only one problem now, The program lets you know to get and install the drivers, you have to pay for it. Dang, the bad luck. What are you to do?
Believe this or not, I have seen many people I know go through just this situation. Even I have at one time or another. So, don't get discouraged, There is light at the end of this tunnel. What it is that you fell for is the tactic some companies use to trick you into buying their product through some trickery of words and tag words for the search engines to help get them noticed higher in the ranks on the search engines, to fool you into clicking on their links. Some even go as far as to pay the search engines to be sponsored links of the drivers you are looking for, so be careful in thinking that this is a sponsored link, so this must be the official driver for my computers motherboard drivers. This isn't always the case.
What you need to look for is the official website of, either your computers, or motherboards manufacturer, to get the drivers you need for free, Now there are some sites out there who do get you the drivers you need for free. I will use a link to one such site that I know of that is legitimate. Exe Hub is such a site. They have the information on what you want and try to get links for any and all drivers you need tor what you are looking for, put on their site for you. In this case I was looking for drivers for a specific motherboard, an MSI 7207 board, or rather its other designation, of K8NGM2-NBP. This site had the drivers I was looking for.You can do this type of search for your video card drivers as well, or sound card drivers too.
As it turned out the on board audio on the motherboard I looked up the drivers to, didn't work, so I had to look up some drivers for an old Soundblaster Live sound card from Creative Labs. I found at the Creative Labs homepage they had the Soundblaster Live card drivers that I was looking for, then found out the drivers for the older cards wouldn't work on the Window 7 operating system properly, because they were unsupported. So it was back to the drawing board, I redefined my search to generic, and 3rd party drivers for the sound card and came upon the drivers I needed for the sound card, the search led me to the kx Project homepage. Here I found the drivers I needed.
Also when doing searches for the drivers you need for your computer, you can come upon sites that say you are infected with some virus or malware, then proceed to do a countdown on your computer. You have to close the window out fast then it will pop up a small window asking if you want to leave the page click yes, to close it out, Because if you don't it will install either a bogus anti virus program or anti malware program on your computer saying you are infected and you need to buy their product to get rid of the infection. This is the same tactic that the unscrupulous driver sites used. It seems an effective tool and tactic.
I will get into the anti virus and anti malware sites on another article. In that article I will show you how to find what you need and save money for all I will show you will be for free, and believe it or not, most of the programs are better than what you pay for.Being aware of what you are looking at online
Being aware of what you are looking at online is very important.
When you visit a site that is supposed to have what you want, Look around first, unless it hits you with the countdown, if it does that then close the page and leave immediately. But if you don't get hit with the count down, Look around the site, Look for key words that may indicate the site is wanting you to buy something, such try for free, or other such keywords. You can save yourself some hassle by doing this, so as to keep yourself from downloading something you didn't want.
Also when you find a site that has what you want and does as it says and you get what you need, Bookmark that site and put it in your favorites, even make a folder for such sites as you come across them, so you don't have to look so hard in the future when you may have to do the searching again.
A lot of the times you can figure out if a site is legitimate by the links on the search engines, Sometimes their URL's give them away, So when searching, pay close attention to things like that, to save you some headaches.
In closing, you should be able to look for the drivers you need, safely and faster. You should always practice save browsing, and be ready for something bad to happen everytime you have to go online to look for something,
But in general, don't be affraid to venture out and learn from the World Wide Web. It is a wonderous place and is filled with all sorts of information.
I hope you find this information I gave here valuable to you and I will keep on making articles to help any and all on this and similar subjects. It is my belief that knowlege is power, and I want to help arm everyone I can to be the best they can be online.
Look for my future articles to come.
